What
A BioBlitz is an event where a group of volunteers or students collaborates with experts -- both professional and amateur—to inventory as many species as possible present in a specified area over a 24 hour period. The idea was pioneered by Peter Alden and Edward O. Wilson on 4th July 1998 when a team of scientists and naturalists identified over 1900 species at the Walden Pond Reserve outside Boston, MA.
Where
SUNY Plattsburgh Rugar Woods (behind field house). Shuttle (SUNY van) will be available for the first event (birding) about 10 min prior to the birding start (5:20 AM) at the Angell College Center (ACC) parking lot near Amity Plaza. We encourage participants to walk to Rugar Woods (proceed to Rugar Street, take left onto Adirondack Lane. at the high school, take right on Bowman St., take left at parking lot containing dumpsters and proceed to the metal gates leading to Rugar Woods. Follow the gravel road in to the clearing to the left of Chip Cummings Field.

Suggested items for your day pack
Water, breakfast, snacks, lunch, smartphone, field guides, binoculars, compass, loupe, GPS unit, notebook/writing utensil, ruler for scale, camera.
Suggested attire
long pants, long-sleeve shirt, fleece, boots for muddy terrain.
Note: Ticks abound during this season.
Transportation
A shuttle will be provided from the ACC to Rugar Woods, 15 minutes before each session.
